What is, in all of your humble opinions, the best internal dvd burner? I am looking at, in order:
1. Reliability
2. Cost
3. Speed

I am considering something like the TDK 440N, Sony DRU 510A, Plextor PX-504A.
Thanks for your input.

Didn't mean to offend (shouldda put a in my post). I use mine to transfer all my old VHS home movies to DVD. I would require a whole lot more CD's to accomplish this. It is worth it...for me, anyways..

That's kind of what I'm up to. I have a TDK VeloCD 52x24x48 cd-rw. It works really well. But I'm in the process of capturing some home VHS movies and you can only put about 30 minutes on a cd.

And with the copyright protection on DVD movies they are hard to copy.

So really what benefit decides the ability to save 4+ Gigabytes of info on a CD does a DVD burner have?

At least TRY to educate youself before you post. I have made backups of my DVDs in about 30 minutes and about 10 mouse clicks. If that's "hard", then I guess you're correct. Maybe he wants to author DVD's you can't really do that well (if at all) with a set-top box. If you've got a digital cam, why "play" it and "record" on a set-top box when you can just fire-wire the data to your computer and mix/match/effects/menus/burn? Try and find a set-top box for anywhere near the price of DVD-RW drive. Let's see...a drive is faster, cheaper, and much more powerful, but it's also a waste of money...I get it now.

OK, you made three unhelpful posts...one of which was misleading and uninformed. You were corrected (albeit with some sarcasm) and you call it a personal attack. Whatever floats your boat.

OK it wasn't a attack. More like a slap in the face. I still did not like it.

good nobody noticed my brain fart. Now lets get back on topic.

I think you should get either the sony or tlk. its your choice.

Good grief boy, life's to short to be that sensitive! Next time, you might avoid it by not posting in a technical thread in which you have nothing of value to contribute.

User 1: "Can someone help me with this program?"
User 2: "I don't use that program."

As you can see, that wasn’t very helpful...and quite annoying. If you don't like my "delivery" of valid and related technical opinions backed-up with facts...well, life sucks doesn't it?

Like Travis said enough thread hijacking, back on topic.

well yes it does. I am deeply sorry I offended you.

Myself I do not use the DVD burner I have access to so I guess I should just shut up.

User1: "I need help"
User2: "I don't use that program"
User3:"So Why did you post"
User1:"I still need help"

User3 is just as bad as user2
